Born and raised in Michigan, Marsh received his Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate degrees from Western Michigan University. While at Western, he was the director of the Behavior Research Lab, an animal research facility engaged in research on the causes and control of aggression. His interest turned to early childhood education where he was one of the founders of the Behavior Research and Development Center and the Kalamazoo Learning Village, an experimental school for children from birth to Junior high. Having recently obtained his Ed.D. in the combined areas of education and psychology, he knew everything there was to know about these two areas, unfortunately lacking any real experience. To remedy this, he moved to Marquette, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula where he worked as a school psychologist for seven years. One year when the temperature never rose above zero for over a month, Marsh was the victim of an altered state of judgment and listened to too many Jimmy Buffett songs. He sold his house, bought a large sailboat, and cruised the warm waters of South Florida and the Bahamas. When his money ran out before he was done having fun, Marsh took a job with the Broward County Schools in Ft. Lauderdale as a psychologist with an early childhood intervention program. The combination of luck and turning the wrong way on US-1 resulted in his discovering Key West where he joined the Care Center for Mental Health and held the position of President & CEO for twenty years. His professional practice was as a forensic psychologist. Marsh and his wife, Dottie now spend summers at their Marquette home and winters at their Key West home. To and from, they terrorize the highways of America in their motor home in the continuing pursuit of happiness and adventure. Between them they have four successful children and six grandchildren.
