Comments:

I attended college at the University of Cincinnati where I received my degree in elementary education and reutrned to Michigan to teach 1st and 2nd grade in Huntington Woods. I met and married my husband (Bob Wolfe, class of 1956) in 1968 at the ripe old age of 26 (I thought I was way too old to have my engagement picture in the Jewish News!) We lived in an apartment in Troy until they began to build Saks so, under the guise of Bob wanting a dog, we bought our first house, also in Huntington Woods. We lived there until our oldest son Jordan finished kindergarten and then moved to West Bloomfield, where they grew up (we used to say that they just got tall!) About seventeen years ago we built the condominium where I live now. Bob passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly seven years ago. Our boys are both married now and our youngest, Matthew and his wife are going to make me a Bubbie early next spring. A little girl who will be named for her Zayde. I am very excited and knitting like a fiend. Although I actually walked out of the front doors of our maroon and blue school in Januray of 1961 many of you are old friends and acquaintances from Hampton and I am looking forward to seeing all of you agin.

School Story:

The only page in the yearbook where you will find my picture is#37, where I am handing an apple to Miss Hodgen, my shorthand teacher. Because the college track seemed to be moving too fast for me I moved over to the general track and, well, let me just say that perhaps that was not the best way for me to travel. In order to save myself from more humiliation I called one of the radio stations that was having a"contest". You call and give them your teacher's name and they arrive with a bushel basket of apples. An automatic win. I might not have been the sharpest pencil in the drawer back then but I wasn't stupid. Sweet Miss Hodgen was thrilled beyond belief and accepted her award with graciousness and pride and I got a passing grade in shorthand. Not bad, huh?
