Dr. Martin Pearlman

Sherwin Newman was a lifelong friend. As a teenager, he was the pitcher on our Jewish Community Center softball team, the Monarchs. He was loudly enthusiastic during our games. He threw a nice curve ball, but he certainly was not unhitable. His tennis was remarkable for putting an odd spin on the ball. He was generous with his family cottage on Union Lake for Monarch parties. He went on to earn a teaching degree at Eastern Michigan University, was married, and began a teaching career in the Detroit Public Schools. Sherwin was a kind thoughtful personwho seldom let a birthday or a holiday pass with out sending a card.   He was a good generous friend. Martin Pearlman, MD

Thanks, Marty,  I am sorry to learn about Sherwin's death.  He was a good guy and a good friend for many years.  Barry
